[Selected]
If we were perfectly certain that
our Lord would come this very night, should we not most
diligently and faithfully attend to our daily round of duty,
and do all that fell to us in that particular sphere in which
His good hand has placed us?
The very fact of
expecting the blessed Master would strengthen our desire to
have everything 'done' as it ought to be, up to the very
moment of His return, so that not so much as a single
righteous claim should be left neglected.
The hope of the Lord's
speedy return, when held in power in the soul is most
sanctifying, purifying, and adjusting in its influence upon
Christian life, conduct and character. We know, alas! That
even this most glorious truth may be understood, and
flippantly professed with the lips, while the heart and the
life, the course, conduct and character remain wholly
unaffected by it. But, we are expressly taught by the inspired
Apostle John…that "Every man that hath this hope in him
purifieth himself, even as He is pure" (1 John 3:3). Most
surely, this "purifying," embraces all that which goes to make
up our whole practical life from day to
day.

Easy Chocolate Fudge
|
This fudge is very smooth and
chocolatey. Fun to give as
gifts:

1/2 cup butter or margarine
(butter is better) 1 - 6oz package chocolate pudding
mix, not instant 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup chopped
nuts 1/2 tsp vanilla 500 grams sifted icing
sugar
In small, heavy saucepan, melt the
butter. Stir in pudding mix and the milk.
Bring to bubbling boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add nuts and vanilla. Beat in
half of the sugar gradually. Cool
sufficiently to touch. Knead in remaining
sugar with buttered hands. Press into
buttered 8 inch square pan. Mark into squares with
