and having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates

and names having been inscribed, which are of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.

                                                                                                                              (Rev 21:12)

Paul, an Israelite, said 'all are not Israel who are of Israel; similarly, "He is not a Jew who is one outwardly, but inwardly, that which is of the heart."  Speaking to the Romans he said, "we are the Israel of God, who are circumcised in the heart and not in the flesh."  "God has made them all one in Christ."

The Abrahamic Covenant and the Seed

I was asked concerning physical Israel’s exclusiveness - the questioner speaking of the 12 tribes in the Revelation passage -  "who do you think will go through the 12 gates of the New Jerusalem?"  It is claimed that the promises made to Abraham passed ONLY to the physical nation of Israel!  This is a great deception and I can prove it so. In Galatians 3:14 we see what Paul says of this matter: "That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ".  Paul fully explains, in verses 15-18, that the Promises were given "to Abraham and his seed… NOT seeds, as of many… and to your Seed, which is Christ."  Notice verse 29: "And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Look also at Genesis 17, and you will see in verse four: "As for me, behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations."  And in verse seven: "And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto you, and to your seed after you."  NOWHERE does it say He is establishing this covenant with Jacob! Look for yourself! Jacob was Israel! (God changed Jacob’s name to Israel, and the twelve tribes of physical Israel are Jacob, his twelve sons the patriarchs.)  Was Abraham a Jew? Was he an Israelite? NO. He would be known today as a Gentile.

Let’s return to Galatians 3:15-18: Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.  16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.18  For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

430 years after the promise to Abraham the law was given. The fact that the law was given, and when it was given, made Israel, as well as the law, a parenthesis.  [Note: This being the ‘parenthesis’, rather than the Church, (as erroneously taught by C.I. Scofield and the Dispensationalists.)]  And if you remember your scripture, what was given as law under Moses was taken away in Christ, (Acts 15:5),  so that righteousness would again be by faith (obedience) and not out of works of law, in any form. The "everlasting covenant" made with Abraham and his SEED still stands. In Christ!  Thus, we in Christ - whether Jew, Gentile, man, woman, bond or free -  ARE ONE in Christ and we are all THE ISRAEL OF GOD!

If you Judaizers will look at this and stop your "most favored people status," you would understand Jesus’ commendation to the Gentile Churches: "You have tried those that say they are Jews, and they are not!  (Rev. 3:9; 2: 2)

Covenant with Physical Israel

The Jewish Apostle to the Gentiles is telling us that the promises are to those who are Abraham’s seed, which is Christ, but he notes that Abraham’s seed shall be through Isaac, not Jacob. The law was given to “show sin to be exceedingly sinful.”  God did not give the Law to, or under, Isaac. It came to ‘Jacob’, through Moses, as their own Covenant, separate from Abraham’s Covenant with God and based on different terms. Theirs based on physical blessings or curses, depending on whether they kept all the terms of their Covenant of Law!

How is it that Israel and the Law go together? Verse 17 shows that the covenant spoken of there is the covenant of Law! Who was that Covenant made with? The Goyim? No! It was made with physical Israel. So, the “making the two one”  - the Circumcision (Israel) and the Uncircumcision (the gentile nations) - was done by removing “the middle wall of partition,” that is, the Law that separated the Jew from the goy! The making of spiritual Israel.

So, we see, (verse 18), that there is no inheritance under the law concerning the “promises given to Abraham.” Nor, is there any promise of blessings to the Nations under the law!
