BLACK WALNUT CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE
1/4 c. Crisco
1 c.
butter
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp.
baking powder
5 tbsp. cocoa
3 c. flour
Cream Crisco, butter, sugar,
eggs and vanilla. Sift together salt, baking powder, cocoa and flour. Add
alternately with 1 cup sweet milk. Then add 1 cup black walnuts or pecans. Bake
at 325 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Check at 1 hour. Cover after 10 minutes
cooling, or put in a cake box. Ice if desired.
Yield: 6-8 servings
